Dore Abbey is located in west Herefordshire in the beautiful Golden Valley, just a short distance from the Welsh border. Dating from 1147 it is a former Cistercian abbey that would once have rivalled many cathedrals in size.
We gather on the Sunday for a week of singing and socialising together in this uniquely beautiful environment.
It is important that anyone making an application to join the course is an experienced singer. Part of the enjoyment of this week will be singing to as high a standard as possible. The application form asks for details of your singing experience.
The full course fee includes lunch on the final Saturday and the evening meal on every day except Wednesday. Individual meals can booked at £34 for members choosing the ‘Course only’ option. Vegetarians and others with special dietary needs MUST advise us on the booking form.
Abbey Dore Village Hall will be the ‘common room’ for course members to read papers, have tea/coffee and relax. Ewyas Harold Memorial Hall (5 minutes away by car) will be the venue for the evening meals.
It is with real sadness that Paul has decided that, owing to some health issues, this year’s course will be the last. The weekend courses will continue and it is hoped to replace the Abbey Dore week with an extended weekend so we continue our long and happy relationship with this lovely place and its people. We very much hope that people will come and enjoy a real celebration in Herefordshire in July and make that great building ring with our singing.
